How to export printable chess puzzles from AQChess

Step 1: Go to the Puzzle Themes page

From the AQChess website, open the navigation and go to Puzzles → Puzzle Themes, or visit directly: aqchess.com/puzzles/themes.

This page lets you explore tactical puzzles by category and theme — forks, pins, discovered attacks, checkmating patterns, and more.

Step 2: Choose themes and rating range

Next, pick the puzzle themes you want your child to practice — for example:

  • Basic checkmates
  • Simple tactics like forks and pins
  • Beginner-friendly attacking patterns

Then, set a rating range to match their level. You can keep it low for beginners, or increase it as they improve.

Step 3: Click “Export PDF” to generate 100 puzzles

Once you’ve chosen your themes and rating, click the Export PDF button.

AQChess will automatically create a PDF containing a set of 100 chess puzzles in a clean, printable workbook-style layout.

Download the PDF and open it on your computer or device to print.

Step 4: Print, solve on paper, then come back to check answers

Print the PDF and give it to your child like a chess workbook. They can solve each puzzle on paper, away from screens.

When they’re done, return to AQChess to:

  • Check the correct solutions
  • See which puzzles were solved correctly
  • Export the next set of 100 puzzles for continued training
